Frequently Asked Questions

When and where does RE|NEW meet?

We meet every Wednesday night at 6:55PM in the Family Life Center (in Kid's Worship Center).

What is the origin of RE|NEW?

The program was launched at Watermark Community Church in September 2008 and has since expanded to other churches in the DFW area and nationwide. They call their program re|engage.

What does a typical night at RE|NEW “look like”?

The format of the Wednesday night is as follows:

6:55pm – Snacks & Fellowship

7:00pm-7:10pm - Worship

7:10pm-7:30pm – Teach/Testimony

7:30pm-8:30pm – Small Group Time

Is RE|NEW marriage counseling?

RE|NEW is not marriage counseling and the leaders are facilitators, not counselors. They are also growing in their own marriages. Everyone in the group is on the journey to oneness in marriage. We believe that openness and honesty in a small group setting, using Biblically-based curriculum, is where God works to grow and resurrect marriages.

Do you provide child care?

Yes, we do provide childcare for children 6 weeks - 12 years old at no cost. They can be dropped off at the Family Life Center at their respective classes, before RE|NEW large group, and must be picked up prior to 8:45pm

Can I just come and visit, or do I have to commit to something?

Until you join a closed group, there is no commitment necessary. Your first night you will join us at 6:55pm for snacks, a large group time of praise and worship and a teaching or testimony, and then you will go to the newcomers group. The newcomers group is a great place for you to hear more about the heart and history behind RE|NEW, and give you a chance to ask any questions that you might have.

How much time each week outside of the meeting is required to be part of RE|NEW?

Completion of the curriculum will take approximately 15-20 minutes each week. The time required will vary, but it is designed for minimal time commitment.

What commitment do I have to make?

Once you join a closed group, working through the RE|NEW curriculum will require a 16 week commitment. This is the time in which the group is working through the curriculum together.

I don’t know if I’ll have a marriage by the end of the month. Is RE|NEW a good place for us?

Absolutely! There are many couples who have attended, or are attending, who are separated or divorced. While the outcome is based on the work each individual is willing to do to save their marriage, the platform provides a safe place to focus on what a healthy marriage should look like, and it provides some tools to help grow toward this goal.

We don’t like spending time with each other anymore. Will we have to interact together?

While you will be in a small group together, each of you will be sharing about what you learn personally each week. However, there are some exercises that may require you to interact with each other throughout the process.

I have no hope anymore. Is this a place where we can find hope?

Our prayer is that you will find hope that can come through allowing God to do a mighty work within your marriage.

My marriage is doing well. Can we benefit by attending RE|NEW?

Whether your marriage needs to be refreshed, or is in need of a complete resurrection, RE|NEW is a safe place for couples to reconnect.

We have only been married for 6 months. Can we still come?

Absolutely!  In fact, participating in RE|NEW at this stage in your marriage is a great idea! The program will provide a strong foundation for your marriage.

We are thinking about getting married (or are engaged). Is this ministry for us?

We suggest you elect to focus on marriage preparation through a pre-marital class. If you would like more information on the pre-marital class at Covenant, please click here.
